AMMAN/IRBID —AlGhad— The authorities rescued hundreds of Jordanians and foreigners trapped in floods across the Kingdom Thursday evening, as heavy rains caught municipality and emergency response teams off guard.
Police evacuated 1,000 workers stuck in a garment factory in Irbid and rescued four families, 20 people, after they were trapped in their tents.
In Bargash, four Kuwaitis and two Jordanians were rescued, in the Wadi Rayyan Valley after they were trapped in flood, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Their vehicles were pulled to the main road and no casualties were reported.
Several houses were flooded in the northern parts of the Kingdom as police, municipality and emergency personnel scout race to contain the situation.
Numerous other incidents across the Kingdom were reported.
The Public Security Directorate (PSD) stated that the weather has caused numerous streets to block, either due to floods or collapse.
Roads in the Jordan Valley areas have collapsed as well, due to the floods, but no injuries were reported, but tunnels were blocked by sediments.
