AMMAN —AlGhad— The Ministry of Social Development and the European Union announced today, Monday, the launch of Jordan’s first comprehensive 4-year “Social Protection and Development Programme”, funded by a EUR20 million EU grant.
The project aims at developing the social protection system in Jordan and enhancing the quality of social services facilitated by the Ministry.
According to the statement of Minister Halah Bseiso Lattouf, during the inauguration ceremony, the programme is designed to meet the Jordan 2025 Vision, which entails measures to reinforce productivity and limit poverty.
The ceremony was attended by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr Mary Quwar and Michael A Kohler, neighbourhood director of the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation, European Commission.
The joint project also aims at boosting inclusion and social engagement in the civil service and voluntary work sectors, according to the Ministry’s Vision 2017-2021.
