Green Corridor Project on Schedule, Says NEPCO Official

AMMAN —AlGhad— The Green Corridor renewable energy project appears to be on schedule, says Director of the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Eng Abdul Fattah Daradkeh, confirming the new grid will be ready and integrated by end of year 2018, at a cost of JOD22.4 million for first stage of the project.

The Green Corridor project includes the construction of a new power plant facility in Maan, at a cost of nearly JOD19 million. In addition to the installation of the plant’s power transistor units, at JOD3.4 million, totalling at JOD22.4 million.

The Maan plant will generate 400 kilovolts to be integrated into the national power grid, which is part of the second phase of the project; linkage and integration.

The linking and integration stage of the Green Corridor includes two plants in Maan and Qatranah, which is estimated to cost in total around JOD20.8 million.
