AMMAN —AlGhad— A military source with the Jordan Armed Forces—Arab Army command stated today, Monday, that the Northern Border Guard Units have intercepted two border infiltration attempts inbound from Syria, and arrested three of the four infiltrators.
The rules of engagement were applied in both incidents, one which turned to be a failed drug smuggling attempt.
When border units searched the area, they found and confiscated 549 thousand narcotic pills, 12 plates of Hashish, and over 8 thousand strips of prescription drugs.
The detainees were transferred to the respective authorities for further investigation, while the drug smugglers who were intercepted had retreated back into Syrian territory.
