NEW YORK  — The UN General Assembly on Wednesday evening adopted a resolution that urges protection of Palestinian civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip, and called for considering the means necessary to insure that.

In the UN 10th emergency special session, the assembly, under the 5th article dubbed "illegal Israeli activities in the occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of occupied Palestine" it urged to take immediate actions to end the policy of blockade and restrictions Israel imposes on transportation to and from the Gaza Strip.

The resolution dubbed "providing protection for Palestinian citizens" passed by a vote of 120-8 with 45 abstentions.

The resolution deplores the indiscriminate and disproportionate use of force against Palestinian citizens in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
