AMMAN —AlGhad— Experts predict a hike in fuel prices in May due to a 2-3 per cent increase in the global price index of crude oil and derivatives, compared to the price index in March.

The price per barrel of Brent crude reached USD47.00 this month, April, compared to the USD65.9 price index average in March.

Likewise, the global price indices of oil derivatives around the world has also increased, experts underline, which is expected to drive prices up domestically.

Oil expert Fahed Fayez told AlGhad that the fluctuation in oil prices globally drew a wider range as it has peaked higher in April than it did in March.

However, the recent price hike in April, according to Fayez, was greater than the increase in oil prices internationally.

The government has not justified the variance in price hike, which is hovers around 4 per cent in April.

Chairman of the gas stations association Hisham Aqel told OPEC is aiming to raise oil prices to USD80-100 per barrel, which adds to the instability of the global price offering.
