Guatemala Moves Embassy to Jerusalem, Jordan Condemns

 AMMAN —AlGhad— Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani stated today, Wednesday, that the Guatemalan decision to relocate their embassy to the occupied city of Jerusalem is a flagrant violation of international laws and UN resolutions.

 An official inauguration ceremony was held today, at an office complex in west Jerusalem, according Agence France-Presse (AFP).

 "Peace-loving countries should support the two-state solution based on the international legitimacy, which calls on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on pre-June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital," the minister stressed.

 The ceremony was attended Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officials, AFP reported, as the Guatemalans are the first to follow in the footsteps of the United States.

 Romania, the Czech Republic and Honduras are also considering moving their embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

 The US opened its new embassy on Monday in an interim office located in its consulate in preparation for the move from Tel Aviv.
