High Tariffs Disrupt Exportation to Iraq through ‘Tureibil’

TUREIBIL —AlGhad— According to Emad Duleimi, acting governor of the Iraqi western district in Tureibil, the high tariff rates at the Karamah-Tureibil border point have been disrupting the flow of freight movement and shipping into Iraq.

Duleimi confirmed to AlGhad’s correspondent in Iraq, Sadeq Iraqi, that the Customs Committee imposed high tariffs on inbound commodity, particularly through Tureibil.

The governor stated that the Committee must reconsider its tariffs, if the flow of commerce between Jordan and Iraq is to pick up pace.

It is vital to work towards restoring commercial activity with Jordan, Duleimi underlined, as it will not only help the Iraqi economy, but also help address unemployment in the District.
