JFDA Closes 659 Shops

AMMAN — The Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) locked down and referred 501 foodstuff establishments to court, and suspended 158 establishments from work for a month, for uncleanliness, insect infestation, and failing to meet storage and transportation conditions, according to statements by FDA Director, Hayel Obeidat, Monday.

So far, since June, 4,586 visits have been made across the Kingdom, 3,492 warnings issued, and 354 inconsumable and corrupt foodstuff disposals have been conducted, indicating in total, the number of violations compared to the first 5 months of the year, has increased, topped by the Capital, Amman, as usual, at 315 violations and 125 court referrals, followed by Irbid, Zarqaa, and Kerak.
