AMMAN — Both chambers of Parliament on Wednesday submitted their replies to the Speech from the Throne, which His Majesty King Abdullah delivered on November 12, marking the beginning of the 18th Parliament’s ordinary session.

The lawmakers’ speeches were delivered in a ceremony held at Raghadan Palace.

President of the Senate, Faisal Fayez, stressed in his speech the dire need to find realistic solutions to counter the Kingdom's problems, emanating from "our distinguished potentials and capacities as inspired by the King's directives."

Fayez also outlined the King's keenness to bolster the judiciary, a step achieved after the Parliament endorsed relevant legislatures.

He also underscored the Kingdom's reforms, with eye to the recent decentralization councils' elections, an event characterized by integrity and transparency, in a bid to further bolster the citizens' participation in the development decision-making process.

He, moreover, reiterated implementation of the economic stimulus plan for the forthcoming years to achieve the desired growth and to create job opportunities to enhance the citizens' living standards.

He highlighted the King's staunch and continual defence of Islamic and Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, and the need to establish a viable Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, saying " this is a persistent Hashemite commitment historically and religiously."
