BAGHDAD — Iraqi forces on Saturday found a mass grave of 70 victims of the Yazidi religious minority north of Sinjar in the Nineveh province, about 600 km northwest of Baghdad, a military official said on Saturday.
“Security forces found a new mass grave, which includes the remains of 70 Yazidis in Qahtaniyah, north of Sinjar district, 60 km west of Mosul”, army Brig. Gen. Muhammad Bajari told Petra’s reporter in Baghdad.
He said security forces transferred the corpses to the department of forensic medicine in Mosul for identification.
The dead were victims of Daesh after the terror group overran Mosul in June 10, 2014, he added.
